Tom Burke | Photographer Artist
My work explores the conversations and interactions we have with the unseen—something deeply felt yet hidden within the indeterminate landscape. It is also about forgetting: a consciousness both emptied and filled by landscape, momentarily mirroring each other. In this sense, image-making becomes an act of maintenance through negation, a process of subtraction.
I work within the landscape as an undoing.
The photographs are a continuation of this process: expressive of the landscape yet largely forgetful of its origin. They seek to blur the distinction between subject and object, moving instead through a state of in-between—where one condition dissolves into the next. My work hints at the presence of absence, the certainty of uncertainty, and the paradox of what exists between.
